Dead Sara

Upon meeting Sara at the Dane County Fair a perfect spot at that for 608 strangers, I was a bit spooked at first. Still over five months away from Halloween, I wondered why someone would dress up in such attire in summer months. But as Sara and I chatted, I got to know more of the details behind her awesome make up job. As it turns out her and her husband (Guy) run a haunted house (Wisconsin Scaryland) which is open for 16 days leading up to Halloween. The amount of work that goes into constructing a three floor, eighteen hundred square foot haunted house is crazy. To think that they started working back in April and continue up until opening night, such dedication.

While admiring Sara's awesome make up, I had to ask "what is the most complicated part?" she thought for a moment and explained to me that the contacts were. As they are the most awesome part of the costume in my mind, I could see where it might be a challenge (coming from me whose had glasses the last 20 years of my life). When Sara and Guy are not busy creating a new Halloween masterpiece, they run an online Halloween supply store (HalloweenFX). So while Halloween happens only one day a year and the haunt is only open for sixteen days, they're lives are all Halloween all the time. Making for one of the *stranger* strangers I've met on the 608, but an awesome one at that!

This is shot 103 in my 100 Strangers project, and three in my 608 strangers project. To see the work of other photographers in 100 Strangers, which got me going on my 608 strangers, check out 100 strangers To see the 608 project, have a look at the (608)strangers
