Candown Bottom Reflections

Day 1 of the 5 Day Challenge

A pic from back in January 2014, when there floods on Salisbury Plain, and lakes where there used to be fields!!

This is one of our favourite places. My husband and I stop here to watch for birds, on our travels across Salisbury Plain. This is usually a lush valley, or combe as they are called in the West Country. But after all our rain, it has become a winterbourne. " ... a winterbourne is a river or stream that rises in the winter, after the heavier rains – hence, winter-bourne. The word can be found in place names such as Winterbourne Stoke". If you'd like to know more about this winterbourne, and see even more lovely pictures of this one, and another that we found, you can check out my husband's blog .... stevedewey.wordpress.com/2014/01/14/wiltshire-winterbournes/ Which is excellent :)
