SJB Childcare Development Centers - San Juan Bautista Site

The San Jose Redevelopment Agency and City of San Jose partnered to rehabilitate and expand existing classroom facilities at the San Juan Bautista site. The 2,317-square-foot addition expands the center's service capacity to 240 spaces from 192. The expanded facility has new classrooms, restrooms for adults and children, kitchenette, and exterior trellis.The San Jose Redevelopment Agency contributed $330,000 to complete the rehabilitation.

 

The San Juan Bautista site, established in 1971, is one of more than 52 childcare sites operating under San Jose's Smart Start program, an early childcare initiative implemented by the City of San Jose and the San Jose Redevelopment Agency, and administered by San José Public Library to expand and improve the education experience for infants through preschool age children. To date, the Redevelopment Agency has invested nearly
