Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Right now too many politicians & lawmakers in most of our decaying civilisation of over-consumption are only working for the benefit of themselves, their party, their maecenae, their ideological friends and their corporate sponsors, instead of working for the benefit of the people and the lands (nature, flora, fauna) they have sworn to protect. One way to make sure they do everything they can to do good, is to have them judged by all the people after their reign. Did they betray the people or the land then bannish them without access to their (foreign) bank-accounts. Have them ostracized ike the old Greeks did.
