Applecross township
Applecross is the name for the whole peninsula and the community is made up of various crofting townships. Applecross itself is home to just a couple of hundred people and accessed by only two roads, the Bealach pass road we used reaches 2053 feet called the Bealach na Ba, the Gaelic name for the area, ‘a Chomraich’, means ‘The Sanctuary’.
Applecross is a corruption of Aber Crossan, meaning mouth of the River Crossan.
