This solid foursquare with gracious porch on Montrose near Milwaukee, in Portage Park, was built in 1905. Prior to 1909, its address was 1743 West Montrose. It seems to have led a fairly quiet life, generally avoiding the limelight until 1981. That year, it hit the market, with the realtor touting it as a "totally rehabbed Victorian beauty for nostalgia lovers only." From the looks of the ads, it took until 1983 to find a taker, but the house seems to have fared very well since then! [blogged]
