Movies

Short, simple, fuzzy movies taken with a point-and-shoot digital camera (Olympus SP-550UZ). Always to show something changing, from a wasp-moth moving its wings slightly to a train going by. It took me a couple years to become interested enough to take a minute to look for and choose the menu option for improving movie image quality. And since then I've tried only a little editing, which is fun when the results are good but can take a lot of fussing around. The passing train is my most edited movie, though only a little, using a demo program.

The older movies are lower resolution and only two so far (as of Nov. 2008) include sound. Even with these clunky movies here I like the sense of aliveness that is usually completely absent in the frozen moment of still pictures. Digital video movies remind me of old 8mm movies, for those of you who can remember that far back (1950s and before), which have the feel of looking back in tme. Sometimes the clunkiness can make them feel more authentic or believable.
