So... not content with simply shooting in relatively easy to reach locations, I decided to hike to a mountain top with a nice view of Mt St. Helens. Betzu, ever the good sport, agreed to go with me.
The hike itself is normally a fairly rigorous venture gaining 2,100 feet of elevation in a little more than 3 miles from the trailhead to the summit. Complicating the effort a great deal was the abundance of snow that we ran into about half way up the trail.
Fortunately, the rocky summit (a former fire lookout site) was free of snow and so we were able to get the photos that I had been hoping to get. It was a long, physically challenging, but ultimately rewarding day!
I can't give Betzu enough credit for putting up with my hair-brained idea. She said she had a fun time though so I suppose she'll be game for more adventures too... but I think we'll avoid the snow hiking.
