The Flock

Every September, thousands of Swifts roost in the chimney of Chapman School in Portland during their fall migration. The birds flock to the school grounds at sunset as they prepare to enter the chimney. For almost an hour, they provide a beautiful show as they mass together in the sky to form beautiful, seemingly random patterns, before finally spiraling into the chimney together.

This was my second year photographing the swifts. And after seeing a friend use an antique filter on their images, I decided to try the same. I like the almost haunted vibe it gives the image.
