Forth Bridge, Scotland -Photogravure

In 2009, I undertook a 3-week photographic commission in Scotland. I had freedom to travel around and make pictures of the landscape and castles. When I think about working in the land my overall feeling is busy. This is why I am drawn to quiet views, simple scenes that bring me comfort when I view the prints. I am revisiting the negatives from this trip, and like in this case printing some for the first time.

The Forth rail bridge crosses the Firth of Forth from the East of Scotland near Edinburgh. The bridge was completed in 1890, I made this picture 119 years later in 2009.

This hand-pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel Burnt Umber, Noir 55981, and Bistre inks on Hahnemühle copperplate paper. I printed an edition of 6 numbered prints and 2 A/P prints.
