This is in Arica, Chile's northernmost city. We ready for another international crossing which involves first a forgettable experience with a shyster taxi driver and the usual set of exit and entry passport checks.
Before we'd even crossed over I'd expressed my fedupness with the buses. It would take another full day or more to get from southern Peru to the capital. So the taxi dropped us off at the airport. A ticket for two was $300, a bit stiff but I really was fed up with riding the South American greyhound. Just an hour after takeoff we were back in Lima.
