Mariner's Home
This Federalist mansion used to be the home of a wealthy whaler, William Rotch Jr., who built it in 1787. His daughter, Sarah Rotch, donated it to the New Bedford Port Society in 1850s to run as a home for transient seamen.
Today, it still provides low-cost temporary housing to the needy.
