Svalbard Specials

The Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) is a small subspecies of reindeer, only found on Svalbard.

Compared to other reindeer, they are short-legged and have a small, rounded head. Their fur is also lighter in color and thicker during winter.

I met these right by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, on the only foggy day I had during my week on Svalbard.
