Life today includes digital spaces... for learning, socializing, communicating, sharing, and much more. When we (older generations) messed up in analog form, things likely didn't go viral and got swept under the rug when the dust settled. We know this doesn't happen today. Kids need help understanding this and strategies for being positive, healthy and ethical citizens. When they mess up, we need to wag our fingers less and help them learn more.
Today, the trend seems to be to ruin someone's life if they make a mistake that ends up in social media spaces. Mistakes go viral and the global community demands retribution and punishment - often quite severe.
Imagine what it would have been like if YOU (and your mistakes, poor judgements, private activities) lived through your teen years in the era of social media.
