Miranda - The Tempest
I really like The Tempest by William Shakespeare. I was first introduced to it many years ago via Derek Jarmans film version. It’s a wonderfully strange and fascinating interpretation of the story.
This photo depicts Miranda, daughter of Prospero. They were banished to a remote Island by her uncle and the king of Naples and have lived here with their slave, Caliban as her only company for twelve years.
Prospero, a magician conjures up a storm to shipwreck his brothers passing ship.
Ideally, the shipwreck should be visible in the background. But I think Emer captures Mirandas character beautifully.
Expect to see more of The Tempest over the next few months.
