There are tamale stands here in random places not unlike the little coffee drive-ups in the northwest. Even though there's fewer than 1% Hispanic population in the Delta, the history of tamales is tied to sharecroppers who needed portable meals while working the cotton fields. Scott's Hot Tamales is near my home.
