Silk Floss Bloom
This large exotic flower is found on the Silk Floss tree. There were a number of these growing in the hotel grounds. The tree is a native of the tropical forests in South America but seemed to be doing well in Turkey. The oval fruits are up to 8cm long and contain black seeds which are surrounded by a fibrous fluffy material similar to cotton. The trunk and branches of the tree are covered in thick conical prickles which retain moisture for dry periods. (see link)

This is quite a large crop as the blooms were fairly high up.
