Dubrovnik - Stradun at Dawn
Stradun - Old City Walls of Dubrovnik, A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Croatia.
You wouldn't find this popular street empty during the normal waking hours of the day, so the best time to avoid the crazy tourist crowd is before daybreak. And it's usually worth the early wake-up call, unless you encounter those hapless drunks lurking around the corner.
...
The Stradun is historic Dubrovnik's main street that is enclosed by the old fortress walls. This limestone-paved pedestrian street measures about 300 meters long connecting the western entrance Pile Gate to the eastern entrance, Ploče Gate. Stradun was the Dubrovnik's (then known as Ragusa) main thoroughfare in the 13th century. Stradun and the surrounding area were devastated during the 1667 earthquake and were also damaged during the war of 1991–92. Most of it has been repaired through the years. Many of Dubrovnik's historic buildings and monuments can be found along the Stradun, making it a popular esplanade for tourists.
