Das Museu del Disseny de Barcelona befindet sich am Plaça de les Glòries im Stadtteil Poble Nou im Nordosten Barcelonas. Es wurde 2014 eröffnet und entstand aus einem Zusammenschluss verschiedener bereits bestehender Museen für angewandte Kunst wie dem Keramikmuseum, dem Textilmuseum und dem Museum für Grafikdesign.
Das auffällige Gebäude am Rand des Plaça de les Glòries, direkt neben dem schon von weitem sichtbaren Torre Agbar, war der Beginn der Neugestaltung eines ehemals tristen Verkehrsknotenpunktes in Barcelona. Entworfen und ausgeführt wurde das ehrgeizige Projekt von dem namhaften Architekturbüro MBM aus Barcelona, namentlich den Architekten Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila und Francesc Gual. Die Arbeiten begannen im Jahr 2009 und bereits 2013 war das Bauwerk fertiggestellt.
The Museu del Disseny de Barcelona is located in Plaça de les Glòries in the Poble Nou district of north-eastern Barcelona. It opened in 2014 and was created from a merger of various existing museums of applied art such as the Ceramics Museum, the Textile Museum and the Museum of Graphic Design.
The eye-catching building on the edge of Plaça de les Glòries, right next to the Torre Agbar, which can be seen from afar, was the start of the redesign of a formerly dreary traffic junction in Barcelona. The ambitious project was designed and executed by the renowned architectural firm MBM from Barcelona, namely the architects Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual. Work began in 2009 and the building was completed in 2013.
