5th Floor renovation in progress

Since Chicago Union Station is a landmark, the building the exterior cannot be changed. Hundreds of windows must be replaced in kind with new glazing. The cost of the glass alone is in the millions of dollars. The old Chicago Main Post Office is in view outside.
