Raiatea Arcuri
Steaming Crater
The milky way is back from being hidden during some of the fall and winter months. This was shot early morning at Kīlauea Iki crater. Kīlauea Iki erupted in 1959 and created a lava lake. The erupting fountains created the cinder cone hill Pu'u Pua'i. The red glow and light hitting the hill and trees is from the active Halema’uma’u crater lava lake. The fog in the distance is coming from the active steam vents on the crater floor.
