Blue Throated Barbet is one of the many Asian barbets, native to India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China and other south-Asian countries. It has a combination of vibrant red, green and blue colors which helps in locating these birds in leafy trees.
It is a resident bird in the lower Himalayan range of north and east India but can also be found in and around fruit trees within human habitats. Like other barbets, it predominantly feeds on fruits and berries but is also seen catching flies and termites in air. Its nest is a hole excavated in dead tree trunk or branches.
