film noir (Get Pushed ! R 19)
my Get Pushed ! Round 19 partner annadelf gave me the following push :
1) A stranger portrait: in the mode of the 100 Stranger group (you approach someone you don't know at all, explain your challenge and obtain his permission for some portrait shots, try to get to know a bit about the person--ideally you exchange emails and send him the copies--you will hopefully not be strangers any more. You then write up the story about how you met and give us something personal so we feel there's been an encounter.....OR
2) I was given a challenge to do some b&w film noir shots which I thought was a lot of fun. This should involve having some people model scenes that you imagine from this genre. I did mine just using a flashlight and the streetlights--it doesn't require a lot of sophisticated equipment. You already have so much imagination and creativity, that I think you would really excel at this!!
After this busy workweek I had planned to take some time in the weekend to work on this,
unfortunately I fell sick, struggling with a severe cold..
having no energy and courage to step up to a stranger and take a portrait,
something I will do some day, because I haven't had the guts to do so yet;
no time and energy to ask some models to do some acting for a "film noir style photo";
so going back to the basics, me & my camera, a window in the bedroom
with the rolling shutter half closed while the daylight peeped in..
no femme fatale, no raincoats, hats or dresses from the 40-ies or 50-ies,
no hard-boiled detective, no street lights and silhouettes,
see this as a modern film noir version : a scary man looking through the window
not knowing what's coming next, with fear & anxiety on his face, lost & vulnerable..
could be a dark movie scene too..
annadelf I'm sorry this is all I could come up with right now, more and better to pop up later on !
Thanx anyway for your challenge & keep on with your good camera work !
