Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea)

Male Souther Hawker patrolling the pond in the butterfly garden at Chambers Farm Wood.

I spent a good half hour trying to photograph it, but in that time managed to press the shutter only a dozen times - my co-ordination was rubbish! Unlike Migrant Hawkers, for example, this species doesn't seem to do much hovering, after an initial checking out, and zips around. I enjoyed the challenge :-)
