Raketes (beach rackets)
I may have been born and raised in Athens, Greece, however when I am remembering childhood moments my mind goes to Zacharo, my father's homeland, where we have a small house not very far from the beach. Zacharo has a long (30km) beach with thin golden sand. That's where I spent most of my summers, playing "raketes" (racket ball) with my friends and cousins. The sandy beach is the best terrain for such a sport. I still remember those late August evenings, the breeze coming from the sea and myself and my friends hanging out at our favorite beach bar, watching the sunset and having a drink or a coffee.. Moments that i wish i could live again!
