Korg G4 Rotary Speaker Simulator

As long as I'm digging through the toybox this week, here's proof that I'm not on the Danelectro payroll. For my birthday in 1996 my wife took me to see GOV'T MULE at the old Frankie's Patio in Ybor City. Funny story, actually. The previous year she'd taken me to see Primus and Helmet as kind of an early birthday concert and since she worked for the local Sheriff's Office she got a Deputy to let us in the venue before the audience was admitted. So we got to stand front and center on the rail without waiting in line all afternoon...and I went to the hospital before the end of the night. Heh..."Deep Tissue Trauma." I thought I had a ruptured appendix. She came away with a black eye. Seldom seen a crowd that worked-up. I turned 30 a couple of weeks later and it was my first indication that I might be getting too old for mosh pits.

Anyway, for my 31st we went to see the Mule and Warren was using one of these. Sounded amazing, but of course Warren ain't no slouch, so he'd have probably made a cheap chorus pedal sound great. Anyway, a few weeks later the old Thoroughbred Music on Hillsborough Ave. in Tampa was having a sale to blow out returned and demo items and this was on their list of things they were going to be discounting. I seem to remember that they had two of them. First come, first served and all that, so I sat outside the store all night long with about a hundred other customers in an area of Tampa that's kind of like Detroit was in the original Robocop. I was in the first dozen or so people in the door and scored this for something like $100. I seem to remember they sold for something like $200 at the time, so I was psyched.

Long story short (as if that's ever an option with me), it's a very cool substitute for a normal chorus pedal. Lotta character. And yet they've become collectable and I'm thinking of selling mine. I hate owning stuff that's too valuable for me to bash around. Because I'm a big clumsy oaf and "normal use" for me frequently looks like serious abuse.
