Regina vs The Evil Queen
"I hate you!"
"But I don't. Not anymore."
This is my fourth tribute to "Once Upon a Time" TV series and second tribute to Regina Mills aka The Evil Queen (here is the previous tribute). OUAT is a story about a modern city where everyone actually is a fairytale character, with a lot of twists, cliffhangers, magic and drama. I'm hoping to build a few more scenes for a few other characters and that would be a wrap on my OUAT project.
As I said in my previous tribute, Regina is my favorite character from the series. Her character arc was not just about redeeming herself after being the Evil Queen and becoming part of heroes team and family, but about stopping to hate herself for all the evil things she have done in the past. I consider her (and not Rumplestiltskin, who undoubtedly was more evil in the series) the show's best example of a theme that even villains can get happy endings.
Of course, since Lego finally released a red heart, I knew I should do a scene with ripping someone's heart out, but which scene? Not just the Evil Queen did it, of course, but once it was kind of hers (and also her mother's) signature magic ability, so obviously she should do it. And what could be a better scene than the one in which she finally fully accepts herself with all of her darkness?
SPOILER ALERT!!!
In season 6 Regina tried to get rid of her inner darkness using the serum that Dr. Jekyll created to separate himself from Mr. Hyde (it ended really bad), and doing so she ended up splitting herself in two, literally creating her evil twin - the Evil Queen (serum version), and Regina intended to kill her. In the end of the season, after the literal battle with herself she ripped out the Evil Queen's heart (mostly black) and then realised that is not the way, and instead of crushing it, Regina ripped out her own heart (pure red) as well and let both hearts to take equal amount of light and darkness before returning them back to the Evil Queen and herself.
"And now I love myself."
Basically that means that she restored her own heart to be exactly what it was before she used serum, but now there are two Reginas - the original Regina and serum Evil Queen, and both are equally good and evil (so the second Evil Queen will help the heroes later in the season finale). Oh, but there are also the third Evil Queen from the Wish Realm, which was created when the serum Evil Queen used her first wish of the magical lamp to grant Emma Swan's wish of having never been the Savior, which created a whole parallel world, containing parallel personas of the Enchanted Forest characters. The same realm where second Captain Hook and his daughter is from, but that's the story for another time. Yeah, I know it sounds complicated, but the series was brilliant! :)
I really take a lot of effort to recreate the Storybrooke Town Hall (also known as mayor Regina's office) where the battle took place. The pattern on the floor was extremely hard to do, because I don't have neither white tiles, nor gray plates, so I had to carefully stuck gray tiles between white plates, keeping them in the right shape of the pattern. It would be much easier if I had aforementioned parts, but since we don't have the LUGBULK and Pick-a-Brick anymore, I'm fine building with what I have. There are also the shards of the mirror on the floor, and one of them is a piece with an actual mirror sticker from one set.
