"I'm crossing the line"
"I'm crossing the line!
And I'm done holding back
So look out, clear the track
It's my turn!
I'm taking what's mine!
Every drop, every smidge
If I'm burning a bridge
Let it burn
But I'm crossing the line!"
This is a tribute to one very interesting character from the show I never watched - Cassandra from "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure" TV series - a lady-in-waiting, royal guard, Rapunzel's best friend and worse enemy, Gothel's daughter.
(don't worry, I listened OST, watched all her major scenes and theories video on YouTube, and carefully read her long page in Disney wiki)
The reasons are simple - I listened her songs from the show ("Waiting in the Wings", "Crossing the Line" and "Nothing Left to Lose"), and guess what? THEY'RE AMAZING!!! I have no idea something so cool and worthy of a feature film can pop up in a Disney's TV! And Eden Espinosa is a wonderful singer and voice actress!
So I decided I need to do something to capture the character's crowning moment of awesome, so I build a huge (4500+ pieces) set and drew my own patterns for Cass. This is a final seconds of "Crossing the Line" scene, in which Cass takes the power of the Moonstone for herself to fulfill her destiny. Justified, considered how she felt during "Waiting in the Wings", not to mention tragic truth about her past she recently discovered...
But of course, there's much more in her, then just the story - Cass have a really interesting, not one-dimensional personality with inner conflicts and struggles. And a pet owl named Owl. xD
"Waiting in the Wings" song/scene - if you haven't watched the show too, start with it BEFORE "Crossing the Line", because both songs are connected, and this is extremely important for understanding! Also check a reprise for the same reason.
"Crossing the Line" song/scene - this is an incredible masterpiece, which gives me the vibes of my favorite "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked". So powerful, so great, so badass and so deep (especially considering the full lyrics version which was cut due to time constraints, but, fortunately, there are talented people making covers on YouTube).
"Nothing Left to Lose" song/scene - also great song, especially Cass' part.
Also please check my second tribute to Cass, in which you can see her better. ;)
