Mary didn't hear the stealthy advance, but she sensed it. Retreat was quite impossible. The slightest noise and she was lost.

 

''Your husband will have to work fast,'' the soldier warned Mary Strong. ''Something is set up there for Saturday. I think they're after the convoy.''
