The harvest is in, the air is keen, the days are getting shorter. You might think the farmer and his wife could rest now. But there's repair work to be done on the barn. The fences need mending. The oil in the tractor has to be changed for winter.

 

Their work is demanding, it's true, but the rewards are great. Not so much in terms of money, perhaps, for farmers seldom get rich. Their rewards lie in the satisfaction of shaping their lives in their own particular way—and in the warm feeling of accomplishment that comes when the day's work is done.
