Book digitizing - 01 (ScanSnap)
The book I am about to digitize.
In about 41 minutes of manual work, I will end up with a fully searcheable PDF copy of the book.
Just a note - I will not be sharing it with other people in any way. I know that it's currently in vogue to think that 'information wants to be free', but honestly I think that's stupid. The author worked long and hard to create this book, and he deserves to be rewarded with the folding green stuff. I am only digitizing the book to save shelf space and backaches in my own life- and the paper copy will be recycled.
Admittedly, it makes me a little sad to destroy the paper book. But not that sad. I know that it will not be long before I can transfer my electronic copy into a decent e-reader like the Kindle or the Iliad. I have already been reading e-books on my Nokia 770, and I really like the convenience.
