kraft brown & charcoal al fresco journal
my first attempt at case binding...
5⅞"w x 9"h x 1" thick
68 sheets or 136 pages counting front & back
(2 sheets are kraft brown paper - for the inside pages; 66 sheets are 25% cotton resume paper, 24 lb.)
made from white resume paper, kraft brown paper and cotton thread (with long stitch binding for the paper); cover is made from kraft brown paper, vinyl wallpaper (from Waverly Finishing Effects Vol. IV), chipboard and re-entry red paper (from Astrobrights, Wausau Paper Printing & Writing, L.L.C.) on inside cover using case binding to finish it off
for the headbands, i used a small piece of material with black nylon thread
my two biggest problems with this project is that i cut the spine too wide, so the covers don't lie flat against the paper especially at the spine... and that i didn't let the covers dry properly, so now they are warped... i knew this before finishing the book and decided to leave it as is, use it as a learning experience and move on...
