Nalanda Ruins

Nalanda Mahavihara was a great center of leaning famous for its religious, philosophical, linguistic, social and scientific fields of study. Students numbered almost 8,000 with over 1,000 teachers. Many of the great Mahayana Buddhist thinkers were products of Nalanda's demanding curriculum from the fifth century CE to 1200 CE.
