QA199 - The church complex on the island of Aghthamar in Lake Van (Turkey)

Fig. 199 (p. 258) - The church complex on the island of Aghthamar in Lake Van (Turkey) has a so-called gawit built on its western side. The gawit is an independent tetradic structure, generated by crossing a double pair of parallel lines. The impression of the ground plan (consisting of a pattern of 3 x 3 compartments) becomes three-fold, rather than four-fold.
