Design features:
- airy, light and transparent concept;
- gas district cooling (GDC) system to replace air-conditioning and fans;
- walls of crystalised glass;
- passageway to the masjid through an overhead bridge linked from Dataran Putrajaya by the Kiblat Walk of 13,639 sq. meters wide;
- each external wall panel or "mashrabiyah" is of stainless steel or Architectural Wire Mesh;
- area facing the Kiblat features a pool to give an impression of being at the fortress complex Al-Hambra, Spain;
- main door to main praying hall is decorated with the Quranic verse 80 of surah Al-Israa';
- wall of the mihrab constructed of a 13 meter glass imported from Germany, written with Quranic verses from surah Al-Baqarah and surah Ibrahim;
- only one steel dome.
The uniqueness of the glass mihrab wall is that it does not reflect light thus making the gold-coloured calligraphic verses stand out and appear to be floating on air. This is the primary focus of the main prayer hall.
