Focus on peace
This is a photo for this week's photo assignment, themed Artistic Motion Blur.
I've been quietly considering this week's photo assignment for the last few days and this evening while catching up with the news featuring footage from the recent protests in Egypt I suddenly had an idea relating to peace.
I used my hardwood floor as a background and allowed the join to run along my fingers, two fingers being extended turns a fist into a symbol of peace. The line created by the join kind of illustrates the division.
I'm hoping to take a second shot for this assignment if the weather permits it over the weekend. :)
WIT: This was extremely simple and quick. I had my camera on a tripod and pre-focused on a magazine I had placed on the floor. I switched my camera to manual focus and set a reasonably long exposure of 15 seconds. I made a peace gesture with my hand and took a number of shots moving from side to side at different speeds to see what worked best. In Lightroom I have converted to black and white and played with the levels a little bit to darken the image slightly.
