Cold feet
I spotted this photo opportunity while on the way home this evening. There are lots of shoes hanging from power lines next to a church. I have just been looking at shoe tossing on Wikipedia and I still can't really figure out why they're there. I'm pretty sure it's not a crack den as Wikipedia helpfully suggests. I remember driving past this church about two months ago and noticing a single pair of shoes hanging on the power lines, so somebody has been busy.
The shot was quite difficult to take as there are buildings, lamp-posts and trees and bushes encroaching into the frame, that's why I've gone for a square crop. There are actually a lot more shoes you can't see in this shot. The shot was a little bit bland so I decided to try some post processing and make it a high contrast black and white, which seems to give it a more dramatic aesthetic and sinister feel. :)
I've been really struggling to find the time for my one a day photos recently, I'm going to try my best to get back on track!
