Out of sight
This is my second image for this week's photo assignment for which the theme is subtle.
This is a photo of a child's toy which was once important to somebody but has now been left behind by the side of the road either deliberately or inadvertently, it doesn't really matter which.
This is really my attempt at a metaphor for the fickle nature of people and how quickly we seem to move from one thing to the next, whether it be material possessions, interests or relationships. It seems in this day and age there is so much competition for our attention that some things just end up being cast aside regardless of how important they may once have been to us.
While out running this morning I suddenly had I had an idea of how I might like create this shot. I was initially going to use a completely different toy that I had managed to find but when I went to buy my friend a birthday card and saw this I knew it would be perfect for what I am attempting to covey. I think the sad face is perfect and the arms just look as though they are reaching out to you and begging not to be forgotten about.
These are my thoughts and the reason I consider this to fit in with the subtle theme, I'm not sure if I've executed it quite as effectively as I had imagined. I'd be really interested in the viewers perspective. :)
