A little help over here

While out today I took a short ferry crossing and noticed this old fashioned looking lifesaver. Not wanting to miss out on a photo opportunity I took a few shots. I wasn't quite sure what to do with the top of the safety railing, I took some landscape shots and had this disappearing into the top right corner of the shot but it just didn't look quite right for some reason.
