Kiss a Poppy Good Morning
I was out looking for birds this morning when I came upon this little Jewel. Not a Bird, but not bad :-)
The California Poppy was designated the state flower of California in 1903. Also known as the Flame Flower and Cup of Gold, the California Poppy grows wild throughout the state.
Native Americans in California valued the poppy as a food source and for the oil extracted from the plant.
The plant is used as an herbal remedy: an aqueous extract of the plant has sedative and anxiolytic actions. The extract acts as a mild sedative when smoked, but the effect is far milder than that of opium because California poppy contains a different class of alkaloids.
Sorry, but some comments for this Image were deleted when I uploaded another image from Lightroom. My version of Lightroom was updated today and I think that was the problem.
Sincerely appreciate your reposting the comments :-)
