Dry needling is een relatief nieuwe behandelmethode van de fysiotherapeut. De methode is overgekomen uit Canada en wordt al jaren toegepast binnen de reguliere fysiotherapie.
Door middel van een speciale techniek worden spieren aangeprikt en raken op die manier snel en langdurig ontspannen.
Trigger point Dry Needling is an effective therapy to treat muscular tension and spasm which commonly accompanies conditions such as arthritis, nerve irritation, muscular strain, ligament strains and herniated discs. It is called “Dry” Needling because there is no solution injected as with a hypodermic needle during a flu shot. The inserted needle triggers a muscle tension and relax reflex which "calms down" the over-tensioned muscles.
