Spruce Flats Falls

Spruce Flats Falls is a very photogenic waterfall in the Tremont region of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This particular shot was taken about a month ago, after several days of heavy rain in the park. The rain significantly raised the water level in the creek, while also injecting quite a bit of mud and debris. Even though the higher water eliminated some foreground opportunities, it also added some nice, almost reddish hues to the water - a tone note often seen in these Appalachian waterfall pictures. I'm really looking forward to getting back out here in the fall. I've been trying to keep my October very open!
