Duncan knows how stubborn I can be....
You see, the weather on our wedding day was not ideal....
For crying out loud, it SNOWED the day before. Yes, in late spring - unusual even for the Blue Mountains.
On our actual day, there was lots and lots of wind, and quite a bit of rain. Oh, and it was rather cold.
Months ago, we had already staked out this local lookout point. (Grey Bear even tested out the shot for us.) Very few tourists seem to know about it, despite the fact that it offers a gorgeous view for next to no effort. And for a couple who have sat on a fair few high edges in their time together (e.g. here, here and here), it seemed like the perfect wedding location shot.
So, when, with the wind howling and the rain visiting periodically, Megan Summerton (our photographer) asked us, "Are you sure you still want to go to that lookout point for photos?", it was a stubborn, "Yes".... mainly from me. :) Duncan is an easygoing person (and more practical, too).
Thus the four of us - Duncan, myself, Megan and her assistant - hopped into the car the moment there seemed to be a pause in the rain.
But of course, during the 2 minute drive from Yester Grange to the lookout point, it started raining. Again.
Nonetheless, we got out of the car, me grasping my train and Duncan grasping me (to help me avoid tripping on the uneven, rocky ground).
Meanwhile, the rain stopped.... again.
Duncan and I didn't talk about it at the time, but we both later confessed that we'd each been a bit nervous inching towards that edge - the rain may have temporarily abated, but the wind was still howling, and I felt that the parachute-like billowing of my dress made me an easy target for the wind to nudge over the cliff edge.
Anyway, we got the photo we wanted in the end. :D With a great memory, to boot.
Oh, and it was really nice weather the next day....
