Paulownia-tomentosa

Originally from China, this tree has -spontaneously and quite appropriately- chosen its spot right next to the front door of the International Institute for Asian Studies in Leiden, the Nederlands. Now two months old, it can grow to 10–25 m (33–82 ft) tall, with purple flowers in the Summer. But, if you cut it back to the ground when it's still young, it will each year grow back to 3-4 meters with the huge leafs it has now. I wonder if the municipality lets us keep it ;)
