LTI: School field trip

by Penn State College of Engineering

As part of a special field trip to Penn State University Park to watch “Che Malambo” at Eisenhower Auditorium, second grade students from Lewistown Elementary School rounded out their day Thursday with STEM activities, during a visit to the Larson Transportation Institute (LTI) and the Energy and the Environment Laboratory. After a lunchtime presentation about bridges, traffic control, and autonomous vehicles, the students challenged each other to a game of traffic control in the LTI conference room. The field trip wrapped up with a visit to a mechanical engineering lab, where each student sat behind the wheel of a virtual reality highway driving simulator, to test how well they adhere to rules of the road.
