A Rusty Blackbird (breeding male)

A fascinating bird (to me at least), which has undergone a steep decline in the pasts several years. Fortunately they appear in the park in the fall and spring. This beauty not only decided to hop on a perch to be photographed, instead of foraging in its usual habitat along muddy river banks, but he selected an area with yellow flowers to match his eyes, and he even sang for me! A dark black plumage distinguishes the males from the more rusty appearance of the female (see my post a few days ago). At the Loch, Central Park, New York.
