Bicentenial in Witenoom - 1988

The pump station that provided water to Witenoom in the foreground.

I wonder now whether the bureaucrats in Canberra really knew what they were doing. In 1977 when I was a pilot in Port Hedland and regularly flew Government officials into the town the Government was hell bent on shutting the town down then.

11 years later they are still doing road improvements in the foreground. I wonder now whether the bureaucrats in Canberra really knew what they were doing.
