Matt in Malawi
Seaworthy
These fishermen at Chinteche offered to show me how they paddle their canoe. They managed their craft quite well (much better than I did when I tried!), but I was still amazed at how much faith they put in such a battered, patched boat. I have since seen canoes where the hull appears to be more sheet metal than original wood. Nevertheless, these fishermen think nothing of paddling 10 miles away from shore, often at night, in all kinds of weather, to catch the fish for their families.
