Dave Coppedge says:When I saw Dave's work at this spot, I had to go there. He showed me the location on a subsequent trip. His photos over the years from this location are the best; go see them all. Timing and comp (and luck) make the shot.
Dave Coppedge says:Our group watched hikers descend Bear Creek Spire with their flashlights. This is a difficult shot to get the right exposure and sharpness without excess noise. Look how sharp the stars are in the reflection.
Dave Coppedge says:We've been doing star parties here for years. I didn't realize digital cameras could capture the Milky Way. When DW showed me this in his viewfinder, it convinced me to drop my Nikon D70S for a newer Canon T2i.
Dave Coppedge says:What an incredible day we had up there in the Ansel Adams high country in 2009. This shot exemplifies the joy of creation we experienced.
Dave Coppedge says:Afer this was taken we had a dangerous trek across a slanted snowbank ahead to make it to Cecile Lake. This was a quick stop at Iceberg Lake on the way, after we photographed the sunrise at Ediza Lake. Again, Dave's shot is colorful, interesting, and sharp as a tack.
Dave Coppedge says:When I saw this, I had to ask Dave where it was. He had found it in a non-obvious place two miles up a local trail. I took some shots there in 2010 that came out decent; this by DW is stunning. In 2011 we went out there together to try again, but there were no lupines.
Dave Coppedge says:This is actually my 35mm shot of Dave from a great trip to Yellowstone way back in 1994. We've been hiking together for a long time, long before digital cameras. Now in this new golden age of photography, I wanted to show off some of his work.
