Overlapping buttes
This scene from Larkspur Rd off of Highway 89 near Big Water, Utah (west of Lake Powell) exhibits some of the large buttes on the northeastern portion of the Paria Plateau, reminiscent of Monument Valley in places. We saw a gulch near here made up of the same tilted layers as seen in Coyote Buttes far to the west on the other side of Paria Canyon, but here it was olive green in color. The vast extent of Navajo Sandstone in southern Utah (including its display in Zion National Park) is truly astonishing. This view is roughly north toward Highway 89.
